Tilia is pleased to be able to offer fun and educational classes in many aspects of the herbal culture. Everything from how to make herbal remedies; how to grow or wild harvest plants; to how to make soap and personal care items.

We host great private events from birthday parties (children and adult) to pamper  for bridal or baby showers. We would be also be happy to create a unique event  just for you and your friends.

Companion Planting with Herbs – Tea & Talk with Rachel Beck

Did you know that your home-grown tomatoes will taste better simply by planting sweet basil next to them? Or that by incorporating some caraway plants throughout your garden will help to loosen the soil? Many people have heard about the benefits of planting roses with garlic, but did you know that using feverfew with your roses will also help to keep the aphids away? In this fun & informative session Rachel will share with you how to create a wonderful garden full of herbs that will cosy up to your other plants and protect them.  Cost is $10.00 (includes tea & herbal treat)

Harvesting with the Seasons: Late Spring

May 25/19   10:00am – 3:00pm

In this class you get to be an herbal apprentice for a day.  We’ll all go out harvesting the wonderful herbs in season. This session we will be off harvesting such springtime herbs as dandelion greens & flowers, chickweed, red clovers, stinging nettle, wild rose petals and elderflowers. Learn all about the herbs you harvest while you make your very own remedies and other fun creations to take home (we get you to bring in a couple of jars from home for your concoctions).  Also enjoy a delicious lunch featuring the fresh herbs in season!

Harvesting with the Seasons: Summer July 13/19

9:00am – 2:30pm (earlier start for this session because of the heat)

Some plants are at their prime in the heat and bright sunlight while others are just emerging.  In this session we will look for plants up in the alpine (Kootenay Pass) and then back down to our valley to go in search of plants such as St. John’s wort, yarrow, mint, mullein.  Remember to bring proper attire for a bright sunny day! As always, we’ll be making remedies and enjoying a delicious lunch featuring the fresh herbs.

“Kids’ Herbal Summer Camp”

July 15 – 19, 2019

A chance for your kids to become junior herbalists and share the wonders of the herbal world! This summer we will be offering classes for children ages 5 to 12 years old where we’ll explore nature and learn about the many uses of plants. From plant identification to harvesting; cooking with herbs to making a mini first aid kit the kids will have fun filled time exploring the wonderful world of herbs!

Class schedule –

“Sprouting Herbies” ages 5 to 7 years. 9:00 a.m. – noon

 “Budding Herbies” ages 8 to 12 years   1:00 p.m – 4:00 p.m.

Cost – $95/child + GST (family rates are available – please contact us for more information). Both of these classes have limited spaces available, so please register as soon as possible so you don’t miss out!
